Delta Apparel, Inc., A Vertically Integrated Supplier of Knit Apparel Enrolls in Investrend PAR Program

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 2001--Analyst coverage for Delta Apparel Inc. (AMEX: DLA) will be initiated by the Investrend Research analyst Gary N. Clark, PhD., CFA for Investrend's Public Analysis & Review (PAR) program, the independent continuing research program. Delta Apparel manufactures knit apparel, primarily T-shirts, golf shirts, and fleece sweatshirts in blank. Approximately 46% and 32% of sales are to screen printers and distributors, respectively, while the balance of 22% went to private label accounts. The Company has its main production facilities in Honduras and Mexico both of which provide favorable wage differentials. While the Company has a one hundred year lineage, it has only been publicly held since June of last year when it was spun off from Delta Woodside Industries, Inc. Sales for the first six months (Dec 31) of fiscal 2001 were $57.0 million, an increase of 13.5% over the prior year period. Operating income more than doubled over the comparable fiscal 2000 six-month period, while net income reached $4.9 million vs. a loss of $1.2 million.

Mr. Clark, principal in Clark Asset Management & Associates, Inc., holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Oklahoma, is a Chartered Financial Analyst, and has passed the NASD Series 2, 6, 7, 24, 63 and 67 exams. An accomplished author of numerous economic treatises as well as lecturer at several colleges in the Los Angeles area, Clark has headed his own firm for the past ten years.
